Noel Lopez

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Noel Lopez, age 62, who departed from this world on Thursday, January 30, 2025. Born on February 7, 1962, in San Benito, Texas, to Lino and Dominga Lopez.

Noel's spirit was vibrant and full of life, particularly when surrounded by his beloved family. He found immense joy in spending time with his wife, Rosalinda, and daughter, Norma Davila. His grandchildren, Natalie and Matthias Trevino, brought him infinite happiness and laughter. Noel treasured each moment spent making memories with his family and friends, sharing stories around the barbecue with those he held dear.

Noel retired from Los Fresnos CISD after dedicating 38 years to his students. He had a deep passion for the outdoors, relishing moments spent fishing or hunting. Noel served on the Los Fresnos Rodeo Committee for 29 years and looked forward to organizing the event with his rodeo family. He helped with all aspects of the rodeo throughout his 29 years of service as a Rodeo Committee Director. Noel was able to lend his expertise and witness the tremendous growth of what has become "The Biggest Little Rodeo in Texas". He eagerly anticipated his annual trip after the rodeo to the ranch, creating bonds with his long-time friends, Agustin, Jimmy, and Carlos, that would last a lifetime. Noel also served his community as a member of the Lions Club for 30 years, serving from 1994 to 2024. 

He held close the dear memories of his father, Lino Lopez Jr., along with his aunts, Leandra, Prissy, Estefana Garcia, and his sister-in-law, Gloria Martinez, who preceded him in death.

Noel is lovingly remembered by his extended family, including his sister, Linda (Pedro) Trevino; niece, Sonia Horton; nephews, Pedro III (Cheryl) Trevino, Rene (Laura) Lopez, and Omar (Cristal) Lopez; brothers-in-law Rey, Isidro, Rudy, Robert, and Marce, as well as his dear cousins Pete, David, Lin, Michael, Lonnie, and Enrique Lopez. 

Visitation to honor Noel’s life will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Los Fresnos Funeral Home. As per his wishes he will be cremated.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Noel's Rodeo family for their calls, prayers, and unfailing kindness, along with the dedicated medical staff at Harlingen Medical Center ICU for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the Lopez family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, reflecting Noel's generous spirit.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Los Fresnos Funeral Home, located at 1005 S. Arroyo Blvd., Los Fresnos, Texas. 

As we celebrate Noel's life, we remember the love, laughter, and warmth he shared with all of us. He will be profoundly missed but forever remain in our hearts.
