Maria Refugio Torres

Maria Refugio Torres, aged 98, of Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025. She was born on February 13, 1927, in Los Fresnos to Eusebio and Salome Cruz Torres.

Maria is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Eusebio and Salome Torres; and her siblings: sisters Francisca Torres, Sofia Silva, and Mercedes Rios; as well as brothers Guadalupe Torres, Eusebio Torres Jr., and Abelardo “AC” Torres.

She is lovingly remembered by her sister and lifelong companion, Maria Del Refugio T. Garza; her Goddaughter, Amanda; and a host of nieces and nephews who will forever cherish the memories they shared with her.

A visitation will take place on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer of the holy rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Los Fresnos Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, followed by interment at Los Cuates Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Martin Garza, Jose Garza, Daniel Garza, Efrain Garcia, Everardo Garcia, and Frank Mendoza. The honorary pallbearers are Manuel Garza Jr., Mateo Silva, and Salomon Gonzalez.

The family of Maria extends their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers, Dolores, Laura, Estrella, Janie, Veronica, Elizabeth, Ceci, and Sonia, as well as the dedicated staff at Gentiva Hospice, Mount Sinai Hospice, Sun Valley Rehab, Pas Home Care and Promesa Home Care 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Los Fresnos Funeral Home, located at 1005 S. Arroyo Blvd., Los Fresnos, Texas.
