Lylas June Richards Palmirotto 88, of Laguna Vista passed away on June 3, 2022 in Aurora, Colorado. Lylas was born on March 31, 1934 in Flushing, New York to Arthur Richards and Georgianna McHugh.
Lylas received her Bachelor of Nursing from Keuka College in New York, Bachelor of Education from New York University as well as her Master of Education. Her career as a Registered Nurse, School Nurse and K-12 Teacher took place in Baldwin, New York. She was a member of the Eastern Star-New York, and one of the original members of SPIN in Laguna Vista, Texas.
A great joy in her life was traveling. Lylas traveled the United States, visiting all fifty states. After retiring with her husband John, Lylas traveled the world. Her world travels included Alaska Cruise, Canadian Rail, European rivers by boat, South America, and Australia. She continued her travels with her daughter. In 2013 for her 79th birthday she traveled to the Panama Canal and in 2016 at the age of 82 she stood on the Icelandic Glacier! Lylas loved playing golf, knitting, her grandkids and thrilled upon the arrival of her Great Grandson! She was a member of St. Andrews by the Sea in Port Isabel, Texas.
Lylas was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Arthur Richards, and her husband John Palmirotto.
Left to treasure Lylas’s memory will be her children Diane (Larry) Hartin-Parody, Craig Verity, and Robert (Melissa) Verity, her grandchildren: Robert Zwirn, Joseph Zwirn, Xander Verity, Skye Verity, great grandson Maverick Zwirn and her beloved dog Bambi.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Angel Lucy’s Funeral Home. Chapel service will be at 10:00 am on Friday, July 1, 2022. Burial service will be at 1:00 pm at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Mission, Texas
