Lucio Alaniz

Lucio "Blackie" Alaniz, age 75, of Los Fresnos, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025. Born on September 2, 1949, in Yorktown, Texas, he was a cherished son of Seledonia Alaniz.

Lucio had a diverse career, working for Gary Aircraft in Victoria, Texas, and as a pipefitter in the oil fields. He also served as a Notary Public in Brownsville, Texas. Music was a significant part of his life; he was a talented drummer who played in two bands and had a particular fondness for Tejano music. In addition to his love for music, Lucio enjoyed dancing, playing pool, and barbequing, creating joyous memories with family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Seledonia Alaniz, and his daughter, Deliah Anne Alaniz.

Lucio leaves behind a loving family, including his spouse, Yolanda Garcia Alaniz; children Christine (John) Alaniz Robbins, Lorina Alaniz (Raymundo Maldonado), Lydia Keturah Alaniz Ordaz (Derrick), and John Gabriel Alaniz. He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Heather Christine Focht, Amy Rose Alaniz, Aaron Jacob Alaniz, Antonio Robbins, Veronica Robbins Cantu, Michael Ty Robbins, Ethan Derek Sheldon, Zackary Ty Sheldon, Leiann Faith Sheldon, Isaiah Alexzander Ray Maldonado, and Luke Ray Zoy Maldonado. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Arkyn Robbins, Adelynn Robbins, and Artorius Robbins, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral arrangements are being handled with care by Los Fresnos Funeral Home, located at 1005 S. Arroyo Blvd., Los Fresnos, Texas. 

Lucio's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
