Andrea M. Cortez

San Benito, Texas

Andrea M. Cortez, 51, of San Benito, Texas, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, in Harlingen, Texas. Surrounded by her loving family, Andrea's peaceful departure marked the end of a life filled with love, compassion, and unwavering devotion. Born on August 28, 1972, in Houston, Texas to Raul and Christina Perez, Andrea's journey through life was one defined by the joy she held in tending to family and doting on her cherished grandchildren.

Although Andrea's passing has left an undeniable void in the hearts of those who knew her best, her memory will be forever cherished. She is survived by her beloved husband, Guadalupe (Waldo) Cortez Jr., whose life was made richer by their shared journey. Together they weathered life's ups and downs with unwavering support for one another.

In addition to Waldo, Andrea leaves behind a legacy through her beautiful children: Kameron Thomas Perez (Tabetha), Cristian Raul Cortez (Adamaris), Guadalupe (Lupe) Cortez III, Marco Antonio Cortez, and Bianca Lizette Cortez. Andrea's devotion as a mother knew no bounds; she tirelessly nurtured her children and instilled within them values of empathy and kindness. She took pride in watching them grow into remarkable individuals.

But there was no greater source of joy for Andrea than being a grandmother to Emery, Mia, Avery, and Lovelynn who were the lights of her life, her face would light up at the sound of their laughter. She showered them with love, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment that will forever shape who they become.

In this time of grief and loss, Andrea's family takes solace in knowing that she is now reunited with those who preceded her in death: her parents, Raul and Christina Perez; her beloved maternal grandparents, Pedro and Maria Claudio; and her adored paternal grandparents, Isabel and Virginia Perez. They find comfort in the belief that Andrea has found peace in their embrace.

Andrea's impact extended far beyond her immediate family she is also survived by her siblings, Joe Perez (Jessica) and Jessica Cortez (Joel); nephew, Josh Perez; niece, Zoe Perez; and her fur baby and constant companion, Karma.

Her tenderness also extended to numerous relatives and friends who she held dear, her father and mother-in-law, Guadalupe and Maria Cortez; sisters-in-law, Patricia Molina (Adalberto), Maria Noriega (Victor), and Angie Olivarez (Ruben); and brother-in-law, Joel Cortez (Jessica), along with numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
